Taking Space

This exhibition is for MFA and MA students and is juried by MFA students in a peer-to-peer review. It is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to see work made by their peers and to network for the future. This exhibition welcomes any visual medium that explores these questions.

The spaces we inhabit influence our perspectives and experiences, especially as graduate students during a time of transition, inquiry, and artistic growth. “Taking Space” asks artists to show how they incorporate space in their current work, overtly or indirectly.

Modest cash awards for Best in Show, First, Second, and Third Place.

Deadline to submit works: Monday, October 26, 2026, by midnight MST

This is an online exhibition and work will be shown on the website: mfaexhibitiononline.org and on Instagram: @mfa.online.exhibition.
The jury process will be complete by the middle of November. We anticipate sending out acceptance and rejection emails by November 23.

– Images should not exceed 3MB and should be in JPG/JPEG format

– They will be displayed as judged in the same way they are received.

– Images should be attached, however, a link is acceptable using common software

– Image Titles: Include a descriptive title that captures the essence of your work. No longer than 20 words. Jurors may decide whether titles longer than 20 words qualify.

– Video and recorded submissions will initially be juried for the first two minutes

– Upload via YouTube or Vimeo and include the link in your application

– Label the video on YouTube/Vimeo: LastName_FirstName_Title

– You may submit up to three video stills above; include the same information and links
